Taxes in the GEPCO Bill (GEPCO bill check)

Usually, the electricity bill is divided into different charges such as the cost of electricity usage, F.C. surcharge, T.T. surcharge GST, GST on FPA, T.R. surcharge, and T.V. fees.

FPA ( Fuel Price Adjustment)

FPA is the abbreviation of fuel price adjustment. It is included in GEPCO’s monthly bills. The FPA prices in GEPCO bills reflect the costs of fuel pricing of rental power companies that generate electricity from crude oil, etc.; that amount fluctuates monthly with the fluctuation of prevailing fuel prices in the country.

T.R. Surcharge

T.R. stands for Tariff Rationalizations Surcharge. When the NEPRA tariff exceeds the GOP tariff, consumers receive a “Subsidy” from the government. However, if the GOP tariff surpasses the NEPRA tariff, consumers pay an “Inter Rationalization Surcharge” to the Distribution Company.

F.C. Surcharge

F.C., or Financing Cost, has been introduced by the officials of NEPRA at a rate of 43 paise per unit as an F.C. Surcharge. This decision aims to ensure the collection of debt servicing for Power Holding Private Limited.

Deferred Amount

You have the option to pay your electricity bill now or later. You don’t need to worry about the late fees if you want to pay your bill after the due date. Moreover, your deferred amount may be included in your upcoming bills, and this will give you the freedom to manage your finances without any stress.

QTR Tariff Adj / DMC

This amount is included in your electricity bills as a quarterly adjustment. You may see this amount appearing on your bills every 3 months.

PTV Fees

In Pakistan, all electricity consumers must pay a mandatory Rs. 35 TV fee, included in their monthly electricity bill. This fees applies to all types of customers, regardless of their usage. It ensures that PTV continues to provide news, entertainment, and educational content across the country.

GST

Apart from all the taxes mentioned earlier, all the people using GEPCO electricity have to pay a general sales tax on their electricity bills. There is no exact tax amount but it depends on how much electricity they have consumed.
